It Gets Worse

We will not have water for DAYS. Days with this many little stinky boogers. D.A.Y.S. Let it sink in. No toilets, no dish washing, no laundry, and no showers. Our kids are hygienically challenged, at best. This is not going to be fun.

It gets worse. There will not be school until the water mains are fixed. So far they have canceled Tues and Wed with the understanding that it may take longer.

DFCS is supposed to come out at some point during this Stinkfest. I hope she brings her nose plugs and own drinking water.

Oh my. I could not do that. I would have to find some other place to go. Oh, I can't even think about it!!!!

i hope that DFCS will see it proper to either reschedule, or overlook the difficulty with water.

It is a heck of a lot of work but this can be done....btdt. When our well collapsed (six months after we'd had it put in), we bought three big outdoor trash cans that were filled up with water obviously elsewhere, like every third day. We added about a cup of bleach to each can (I'm going from memory and this was before adopting from Ukraine, before dealing with RAD, so you might want to look up amounts) just to keep it from going bad.
We'd heat up two soup pots and I found out by barely getting wet, then soaping up hair and body, you could completely shower using one pot of hot water added to a bucket of cold. Same went for washing dishes. We bought gallon jugs of water for flushing and refilled them. Definitely went with the Focker rules: "If it's yellow, let it mellow...if it's brown, flush it down."
Another option since it isn't cold (at least not here in Texas) is to fill the kiddy pool with water, have as many as will go in wearing their bathing suits. Soap up and splash to rinse. Every other day except for those with wetting issues. Good luck, it sucks, it isn't fun, but it can be manageable. We had to do it for over a month.

That is amazing -- the whole county! Crossing my fingers that they will get it fixed soon for you.

Laugh about it or you might cry!! I say you call up DFCS and say that you'll meet at their home...you know so that everyone can shower and have a hot meal :-)

We were without water for ONE day a few winters ago when an unusual cold snap froze the city water mains.

It was miserable and we had the advantage of already having bottled water and 40 gallons of fresh water available in our RV to shower and bathe with.

I can't imagine what you are going through. Can you afford to go out of county and stay in a motel?
