Patches had another difficult night. No one was hurt. She screamed at me that a girl at school is picking on her and no one is doing anything about it. This was somehow my fault and it was also the first I have heard of it. I must really work on my mind reading skills, I am letting my children down.

The AT's are making a safety plan for Patches, they have chosen a residential treatment center. It is local and will not do much in the way of healing her but it will keep us all safe. They take Medicaid. It will only be used as a last resort. I think it was more damaging to "send her away" than it was to have her here holding us hostage.

We will also be discussing a change in her meds back to the original Risperdal. We switched her b/c of the food issues she was having with it but now it seems like a minor issue considering the alternatives. She is desperate, we all are. She will have to commit to a daily exercise plan before we do it and we have to have the Psychiatrist agree.

Kiera is such a wild child. She threw my cell in the toilet on Sunday and tried to flush it. She will crawl or climb up anything that holds still, including the kids. She doesn't stop moving until she is asleep and even then she twitches. You can't turn your back for a moment, she is off carrying the dog by it's neck or taking a giant bite of body soap and saying, "Mmmmm". She is talking up a storm. She is still using one word to express herself but it is really funny to be told by a 1 yr old to "Get!" or when she wants to have her blanket she yells at you "Lovey!". She is bossing this family around and learned quickly how much powere she has. This will not turn out good, I promise.

Yesterday Michael and Eddie filled a hole with dirt and their pee. Ruthie and the boys stirred it and splattered each other with it. They then turned on the other girls. We were about to head out to dinner when I discovered their crime. The boys and Ruthie were unable to join us for a Mexican dinner, they stayed home with Rosa and threw fits. Good times.

Does she not have any PRN meds like Ativan, Xanax, Haldol or something you can give when she has an episode? You seem capable of giving meds of high strength without overmedicating. And its a heck of a lot better than sending her to a hospital that doesnt do anything but give these types of meds anyway.
Its a complicated process to figure out the dosage in the beginning but its usually easier in the long run.
While I'm not a fan of drugging kids until they pass out, sometimes its the only option when they're a danger to themselves and others.

I hadn't thought to ask and no one has suggested it. I will inquire with the doctor next time, though.

That's a great idea, "anonymous." It's almost like the dr. prescribing sleeping aids for nights you are having trouble, but not for long term use. Speaking of that, I was so stressed at the allergist the other day [it wasn't even 9:30 and it was insane in the office]...my bp was ridiculously high too. He prescribed me a child's dosage of Clonazepam/Klonopin [a muscle relaxer] to take when I'm stressed. When I told my "special" dr the other day, he was like, "your allergist gave you what?! no, no, no..." lol. It didn't do anything for me anyway. ;)

I know they make Klonapin in wafers, so you can just get it in her mouth and it'll dissolve. No trying to get her to swallow a pill

Your house sounds like a barrel of monkeys! ;) I like the story about the kids filling a hole with their pee and then splashing each other with it. Where do kids get these ideas?

Good luck. I hope they agree, it will give you and your whole family a semblance of control over the situation.
Just opt for the quick dissolving tablets rather than liquid. Liquid you cant gauge how much she consumed before she spit it all over you, the pill tends to stick to the tongue and cheek and not come back out. Well, until she gets some experience with it and spits it 50 feet. Then you can just find it and plop it back in, while silently cringing over what you may have inadvertently stuck in your childs mouth.
For the record Im, MidniteEchos, forgot to add earlier who I was.

Boys do the grossest things. I went into my deep freezer one day and say dirty diapers in ziploc bags. Poopy diapers to be exact. When I inquired with my kids as to WHY they were saving dirty diapers in said freezer, my then 8 year old told me he was saving them to sling shot at the neighbors. No more Malcolm in the Middle for him. (He wasn't mad at the neighbors by the way. He just thought it'd be fun.)

"AmyAnne" - thats exactly what the doctor gave me, a dissolving pill. It tastes like nothing, with a bit of sugar. :) It's super tiny too, takes seconds to dissolve. Once it starts dissolving, it would be hard for her to try and spit it out.
